Student Information System Replacement

As many of our blog’s readers will know, the current Student Information System (BCeSIS) will reach its end-of-life sometime between December 2015 and March 2016. After examining various options, and as a result of an extensive selection process, the Ministry of Education selected MyEducationBC as the BCeSIS replacement. MyEducationBC is based on Follet’s Aspen system. Those of you who are interested in getting a sense of the system and its features are invited to visit Follet’s online introduction to the product.

Our district is moving forward with implementation of the MyEducationBC between now, and December 2015. At this point, we’re in the very preliminary stages of planning the roll-out for all 28 of our schools. We don’t yet have a deployment schedule outlining when individual schools will move to the new system.

We will do our best to keep our district’s staff, parents, and students informed regarding the deployment. At this time, our plan is to use the IT Department blog as the main source of information for the project. However, we’re also interested in hearing your thoughts. If you have suggestions for how to best keep YOU informed about the work on this project, please leave a comment on the blog.

Thanks for continuing to read and follow the IT Department’s work!
